Terms of Service

Last updated: 21 August 2026 · Effective from launch

Using Ninu

By downloading or using Ninu you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree with them, please don’t use the app. Ninu is published by Apphive Technologies, and is licensed to you rather than sold — your use is also governed by Apple’s standard End User License Agreement. You must be old enough to hold an Apple Account in your country.

What Ninu is, and what it is not

Ninu records short audio clips of your baby crying and classifies them into one of five categories — hungry, tired, belly pain, discomfort, or needs to burp — with a confidence score and suggestions to try. The analysis runs on your device.

Ninu is not a baby monitor. It records only when you tap, only for fifteen seconds, and only while the app is open. It does not listen in the background and must never be relied on to alert you to anything.

Medical disclaimer

Ninu is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. It is an assistive tool for parents and caregivers. Its output is a statistical estimate from a sound recording, it is sometimes wrong, and it must not be used as a basis for any medical decision.

Nothing in the app or on this site establishes a clinical relationship. Never disregard professional medical advice, or delay seeking it, because of something Ninu showed you.

If your baby shows signs of illness, is crying inconsolably, has a fever, has difficulty breathing, or you have any medical concern at all, contact a healthcare professional or your local emergency number immediately.

Subscriptions, billing and renewal

Ninu is an auto-renewing subscription: $3.99 per month, or $19.99 per year with a 3-day free trial on the annual plan, for Apple Accounts that haven't used the offer before. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. It renews at the same price and duration unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and renewal is charged within 24 hours before that point. Manage or cancel in Settings › [your name] › Subscriptions. Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when a subscription is purchased. Prices are in USD and may vary by region.

There is no free tier: an active subscription is required to use the app. The 3-day free trial is offered on the annual plan, for Apple Accounts that haven't used the offer before. Introductory-offer eligibility is determined by Apple, once per Apple Account per subscription group, and a prior subscription in the group — including a monthly one — uses it up. Ninu will not offer you a trial you are not eligible for.

Cancelling, and what happens next

Cancel any time from Settings › [your name] › Subscriptions on your iPhone. Cancelling stops the next renewal; access continues to the end of the period you have already paid for. We cannot cancel a subscription on your behalf, because Apple holds the billing relationship.

Nothing on your device is deleted when a subscription lapses. Your history and care log stay where they are, hidden rather than erased, and reappear in full if you subscribe again. Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Record anyone without the right to do so. Ninu is for your own child or a child in your care.
  • Present Ninu’s output as a medical opinion, or use it in a clinical setting as though it were one.
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile or extract the models bundled with the app, except where that restriction is prohibited by law.
  • Resell, sublicense or redistribute the app or any part of it, including its models and content.

Third-party services

Ninu uses Apple’s StoreKit and RevenueCat to validate subscriptions, and Apple’s frameworks for sound recognition and on-device machine learning. Your use of the App Store is governed by Apple’s own terms. Details of what each service receives are in our Privacy Policy.

Availability and changes to the app

We may add, change or remove features, and we may stop supporting older iOS or watchOS versions. Ninu depends on Apple frameworks and hardware, and a change on Apple’s side can affect how it works. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.

Disclaimers and limitation of liability

Ninu is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that any classification is correct.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Apphive Technologies is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or any loss arising from reliance on a classification. Our total liability for any claim relating to Ninu is limited to the amount you paid us for it in the twelve months before the claim arose.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of Bengaluru, India have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory consumer law of your own country. Before filing anything, please email support@apphive.tech — most things are faster to fix than to argue about.

Changes to these terms

We will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page whenever these terms change, and material changes will be surfaced in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use Ninu after a change means you accept the updated terms.
